Brilliant, thanks for the straight forward video. I kind of got a bit stuck getting the recovery mode working ( didnt hold buttons down long enough ) but then figured it out. Cheers for the help. Windows user here. Also might be helpful to let people know serial numbers will tell you the week / age of the phone – 3rd digit from left = year ( 0=2010 ) , 4th & 5th = week , so 001 = January 2010…

I think I mightve done something wrong..lol…all the stuff redsn0w did, that went ok, BUT, when it finished and the prompt said that everything left, the device has to do, it just went back into itunes and said that I needed to restore the software….thats where Im stuck….any insight??

first off what iphone you got? and what serial is it, as in the week (explained below and in redsn0w) you should just be able to restore ya phone from a recent backup, and everything should go back to normal with out any loss! and you can give it another go! but just make sure ya check its the right version etc

Ive got the 3rd gen ipod touch….model # begins with MC….Ive heard there are issues with those models…Ive tried the blackra1n and that was just a waste of time….then I tried redsn0w…I thought I got somewhere, but it just ended up bricking, so I had to restore and put it into dfu mode….this happened 4 times, so I just gave up…lol

how did you unlock it? mine was unlocked by o2 and it worked fine
